We can’t get enough of it at Edible Acres (but we don’t own a tiller!) Excellent all around support plant and ‘dynamic accumulator’ with it’s massive deep, mining root system. Can be used as a medicine, or leaves chopped and composted to help your soil grow. Gorgeous, large, fuzzy green leaves continue to erupt all season from the root crown, and gentle nodding purple flowers pop up to provide nectar adored by bees. Established as a component of a polyculture or support of other plants, it is simply exquisite. If you like to rototill or plow your gardens, forget this plant. In our 6 years of growing this plant, it has never spread unless disturbed. Probably one of the most useful, beneficial plants you can grow that has one of the worst reputations of any plant! Our Fall offerings tend to have higher numbers of trees, shrubs, cuttings and a medley of our abundant and fall appropriate herbaceous perennials.
